Set your timer for four minutes and write a dialogue only piece between two people
where neither one of them are allowed to use more than four words at a time.

Ready. Set. Go!
"What are you doing?"
"Watching the lightning"

"That's not a window."

"I use my eyes."

"That doesn't make sense."

"We were Gods once."

"This is an office party."

"Gods..."

"Well, there's still fun."

"For you maybe."

"Why don't you mingle?"

"I don't really... mingle."

"That's why you should."

"You talk too much."

"Yeah my big mouth."

"Well it's your job."

"I guess, being messanger."

"Mercury, Hermes, which one?"

"Oh i don't use either."

"You don't?"

"Not up here."

"Then what?"

"Just The Postman."

"Right ok..."

"I don't miss it."

"The old days."

"It gave me blisters."

"Olympus hasn't changed much."

"We have though."

"Maybe, maybe not."

"The show must go on!"

"That's your pep talk?"

"Yeah, move your ass!"

"Oh, just this once..."

Hee hee! Wow! Pretty cool there! Loved the "We were Gods once." line!
I think I would start spitting nickels after a while if I tried this- how was it for you, Nic?
:)

Oh this is great! What a fantastic concept! Half of me wants to give it a try, half of me wants to run and hide...

Give it a try, run and hide... give it a try, run and hide...

*sigh* I gave it a try. But by the time the four minutes were up I was so into the story that I couldn't stop XD Soooo, it's long. Debating posting it--it's not very good.

Also, who is the second speaker in your piece?

[identity profile] wytchcroft.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
they are two bored people at an office party - or possibly bored gods of olympus, i didn't think about anything when i wrote this - not like your piece, which i envy!:))

Yay! You did it. :) We did this in our writing class. The idea was that when we speak for real, we don't use many words, we often leave words out in a conversation.
I enjoyed what you did here.
