previews yet! my god...

wytchcroftIn one of my other incarnations, i am an occasional storyteller for children's groups -
(out here in the wilds).
whenever they can be corralled sufficiently to sit around and listen to the likes of me anyway!
Just recently it occurred to me that it might be an idea to jot some of these down before they're forgotten -
since i make them up on the spot and don't have any notes or whatever REAL story people have up their sleeves.
And yes, doing so also gives me a nice break (or will do i hope) from the two big scribbling tasks at hand, the Cthulhu story and the article on The Meeting Place tv serial.
Here are some previews which i hope will serve as reminders to me to get the jotting down done:
1)
At the bottom of the field the snow had a soggy sort of crunch, the same you get with an apple when it's going soft and your mouth just locks - even before your taste buds have had time to tell your brain the big Yeach!
the sort of snow that is just white mud, mud in disguise.
2)
Nina held the shell to her ear, loving the rough coolness of what felt like stone
and listening to the wind within; that airy sound that conjures waves, conjures the ocean.
3) for very young children
"Tiptoes," said the spider shaking it's great furry head, "are quite the loudest way of walking.
Really, it's like the clowns that entertain the King; they whisper loudly...
Well sonny-jim - your feet are doing just the same."
4) for very young children
The only problem with the house of sweets was that in the summer it got so sticky it was a difficult thing indeed just opening the door.

seriously, you will understand why i was interested in Babylon Dutch when i say that no.2 (and these are really quite old now) is all about nina falling into the shell and finding herself on a ship - i might even call it Babylon Dutch now that i think about it!
