Sign up on the nano website and get as much written as you can in the next day and a half. The forums are going to be around in their current state until October/Novembertime next year and there are enough people and ideas floating about on there to keep you at it until it's 'done'.
I'm certainly going to keep at my current draft for the next month at least. My average words per day (881) have turned out to be about half of the nano target (1667) so I've come to accept that all that means is that it's going to take me twice as long. So if you set your own nano month as December (with two days head start to make up for the expected December interruptions of christmas and new year's) we can poke and prod each other into action.
I'm looking forward to slowly finding more about your story and you shouldn't let yourself worry so much about it being a month 'late' as long as the process and challenge you set yourself is the same. Do it!
Oh and that picture is wonderful and is sending me sparks of inspiration my way too. :-)
