she brushes back her sleeves with a doctor's ease
clasping the documents to her knees
she's moving in rhythm
to the swing of the train
hardly moving at all
she's pulling the cord
it's the click of a heel
the flick of a fringe
some kind of humility
pressing in on her
did she get that job?
did the interview go well?
did the snarls of the ambulance
give her something to sell?
and that old Spanish bell
tolling her gone
a ripple in the fabric of tomorrow
could be the latest fashion
she's difficult to read
and it's hard to believe
she could be invisible
as she brushes back her sleeve
with a doctor's ease
and it doesn't hurt her
to leave
some kind of humility
pressing in on her
up the escalator
and down again
she's moving in rhythm
to the swing of the train.

this is riffin' off from chalissa's post on the 7 deadly sins
and thanks to daysofjune for inspiration as well :))
