Paul Newman RIP

Paul Newman has left the movie house for good. Tributes will follow.

Of course his career was long and consistently interesting - working with many of Hollywood's best directors and starring in a plethora of hit motion pictures.

With his wife Joanne Woodward he also was able to kick feature film acting into the modern era - and without fuss or undue hyperbole.

My particular favourite performances and pictures that Newman starred in are:
Cool Hand Luke, The Hustler, Harper and The Drowning Pool.

two clips - a bio and a clip from Harper.

Oh, no. Such a shame. :(

yep. it's great his career lasted so long -
and he seemed a pretty modest kind of guy,
but, yeah, damn shame.

i'm actually gonna miss getting those annoying political mass-mailings from him and joanne. good people, even if they did keep begging us all to donate to ACLU or whatever it was.

i see all. you're lucky - i used to get political mailings from Newman/Woodward about every two weeks! though maybe that's my fault for making my address available to liberal political campaigns... at least it wasn't the conservatives. :)

I felt quite sad whenI heard of his passing, I very much enjoy older movies and he's in a few in my list. It's also a shame he died of cancer but at least he managed to make a fairly good age first. Bless him.

And I think - heaven is a better place, so don't cry, world!
