celebrations
Jul. 8th, 2011 07:23 pmWell, well, and so my Russian friends it is Happy Love, Family and Fidelity Day! And how many have won their medals I wonder? And how far does this day of celebration stretch?
It is easy to be cynical so I won’t be. There are far worse things to be awarded medals for – and of course any marriage is an achievement and worthy of appreciation.
Nonetheless (and ignoring what such a medal means, if anything, in the battle between the sexes!) these are great mysteries – that have occupied humans for centuries as the best and brightest (and sometimes the not so much) pondered on Love, Faithfulness and Companionship, the family ideal (or Idyll even).

Perhaps such mysteries of the heart cannot ever be solved but simply explored – and if the Macrocosm reflects the Microcosm then it may be that the melancholy Astronauts of Atlantis will catch sight of something… who can say.

What I can say is that I salute all Astronauts and Cosmonauts and I raise my glass to any successful family, friendship, marriage or love in whatever form it may take on this little blue planet.
Cheers!
