so comes the clock so comes our time
could be a dream at the crossroads
that familiar sign
for this is the place
where the days meet the radio waves
remember
all those songs
we used to sing...
we should have been
kissing in the shadow of the moon
but it slipped away
oh i could tell you about the old, old streets
tall tales for long roads and London town
the hazing of everything
but when you look too long
the picture simply disappears
like the moon as it's swallowed by the sun
and all that remains
when the sands have run
is kicking over the traces
looking under the stones
better set up a transmitter
a call back to the mother land
a name that's fading on my calender
electricity's miracle
like insect wings
it's humming
like the songs we used to sing
like butterflies escaping
the net of gravity
planet to planet
and out toward the stars
a ghost on all the radars
an alien shrieking
a homeward journey
shrieking into joy.
.........................
this is the last of the three linked fragments
just letting my hair down while i'm working on a story (they take a long time!)
hope it was worth the read...
