3rd attempt
Just like the waves:
we walk the woods
we track the roads
we dash our footprints into stone
dancing like the sunlight
shines for us alone
and we gaze away
in the tender moment
a hopeless sort of magic
so tragic and
theatrical
bring it on oh bring it on
bring it on down
on us
put your foot to the pedal
and the pedal to the metal
we can crash through the barriers again
like the good old days
again
when we lived in the city
and we sang about the city
when we lived in the country
and we said "it's so pretty"
summer's promise
glowing so fantastical
so hopelessly magical
whispers in our ear
you better get right out of here
dash your footprints into stone
now look at you
and look at me
oh look at the open road
and all the tiny birds flying
out to the ocean
out to the sea
we could make it to the ferry
watching wake waves and trails
waving goodbye to the coastline
raising our sails
i've got your picture and the passport
got the permit, got the cash
you've got the look of love
and a wild love
will crash
just like the waves
what lies behind us
a life left behind us
ridiculous and theatrical
so hopelessly magical
just like the waves.
...................................
this is sort of a revamp of an earlier piece but it should tie up with the last two fragments (i hope!)
and there are links with some other earlier pieces too so if it feels familiar that'll be why.
some of the banal wording is deliberate, honest!

it amazes me sometime the inarticulateness of humans;
so we go to a place so deep and what we say is "it's so pretty"...
the most superficial words hide a lot of our feelings, i think.
er, or something!
:))
