New Tamlins - a spontaneous response to recycledfaery

and when the words dry up
and we read each others empty spaces
we mumble inchoate in our native state
animals bellowing the wild landscape

is it retreat to fold back into our selves
where skin and bone flaps into leaf
some crude and ancient magic
21 century Tamlins turned into a tree

speak with your fingers
sing out the wooden wonder
the rough bark
the curves and whorls of me
traced and known

through every transformation
fish or fowl or frog-like features
we strange new creatures
of the prehistoric future

insects scuttling
and the sound of the wind
as the day comes glistening
in the tropical rain

the damp earth listening

for our words are plain.

i really wasn't convinced by it to tell the truth, but i guess the scribbler cannot always judge the scribbling!

I love wytchcroft the poet... ;)
This is wonderful- and that middle stanza, and this line in particular... "the curves and whorls of me"- ack, that's gorgeous.
More poetry, please, sir...

wow. what a response. a beautiful piece of writing my friend.
and when the words dry up
and we read each others empty spaces

*memorizes* (Is that a word?)
is it retreat to fold back into our selves
*melts*
speak with your fingers? *smiley sigh*
prehistoric future? oh my
damp earth listening
for our words are plain

*hushed silence*

[identity profile] recycledfaery.livejournal.com 2009-07-21 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
from your responses it looks like you weren't sure about this one. how funny that sometimes the writing we least feel comfortable with are the exact ones people like the most.

[identity profile] wytchcroft.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
yes, and that's happening to me a lot these days - strange..

[identity profile] wytchcroft.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
and of course, THANK YOU for reading and commenting!:)))

[identity profile] wytchcroft.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
that's what happens when you write 'The words have dried up.' and then turn off the comments box!

it was a bit (ok, a LOT) presumptious of me i know, but...

and i am really glad you lked it:)))

[identity profile] recycledfaery.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
LOLZ! I am glad to have caused this type of reaction. Maybe I should turn the comment box off more often. *grins*
