yes, I feel the same mood in both texts - perhaps, because of the powerful image of a meeting in somewhere...
I guess what the problems were here... probably, the first is different principles of Russian and English poetries.
Russian poetry loves obvious phyme structure very much... I freely imagine what the song can be based on Russian text.
As for a possible English song based on English text, I'm not a specialist here.
