Being as author of essays and reviews, I clearly understand you - it's neccessary to use a common culture generalizations. Obviosly, there is a huge deficit of distinctive information.
I think the problem is that nobody (obviosly, from Russian holmesians-experts) have written the whole coherent history of Sherlock Holmes in Russia and published it in some Western Sherlockian magazin.
In another hand, I'm not sure this review would be extremely interesting for English-language audience.
