Entry tags:

her face was like the sun. and then

listening to scott walker and this was back in the half light

in the black and white

i said to them

when the fog came in

blinking eyed and terrified and yellowing the image

finally

some colour

and trying not to analyse this dream

a whisper

her face was like the sun and then

a song for every urchin

ringing from the church tower

as the gas man comes

pushing his poundage up the hard steps

hear that rat-at-tat

this letter could save your life

this visit could save your life

a working wife

her face was like the sun and then

she fell down again

a song for every urchin.

……………………………………..

It was in that room the fire started

Smoking incense thick from a wick

Or a stick between the books

And the brick

She had stood on that spot

Tearing her flesh loose

From a prison of nylon

Suddenly free

Blue veined and milky white

Like an iris when the nerves are shot

And the eye is blind

She had brought the day and flame

Pouring from her hair

In that room

In there

Her face was like the sun

And then

…………………………..

Kicking into the light like a fly over the ripples of a lake

Suddenly awake to that dazzle from the doorway

Lifting my hand against it

Her face was like the sun and then

This is how it is

With family and reconnection

Against the sun there’s no protection.

"Against the sun there’s no protection."

This is a half truth. Interesting to see how you blend certain realities.

hey, thanks :))

and yeah, i do enjoy trying to play with reality -
but the results are usually (necessarily?) mixed...

I like how you style/structure your poetry -- it's different to others I have read on live journal (and in a good way).

These lines linger way after the reading,

"This is how it is

With family and reconnection

Against the sun there’s no protection."

I do understand this in my own way. Very strong ending, for me. :)

[identity profile] wytchcroft.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
that's very kind of you :))
this was speed written so i think it does fall back on a very 'me' sort of structure.
i like the challenge of speedwriting - especially since most of the small things elsewhere in my lj actually a lonnnnnnnnnnnnngggg time to write! LOL!
thanks again :))

[identity profile] wytchcroft.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
TOOK a long time to write, even. oops!

[identity profile] inmyocean.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I noticed the speed writing tag and I must say that is even better for knowing that's how you wrote this one. :)

You're very welcome.
